So, thanks to my friend and associate shooter, Geno, I had the opportunity to shoot an NFL game today, in Green Bay. I'm very tired from over 7 hours in the car, so I'm just going to toss a few fun shots out. It was a trip to be on the field with 70,000+ people screaming down toward you! Hope you enjoy these few snaps... I have a new respect for sports shooters--this stuff is HARD. Tracking action with a heavy zoom sounds easy, but it's so easy to get completely lost and miss everything. In some ways, shooting weddings prepares you for anything, but getting used to a 400mm lens with a 1.4x converter on it is tough. I felt lost! Geno and I were there primarily to cover a couple guys. This first shot is the front-line guy we were covering. It was crazy how much freedom i had as a photographer. There were few rules and few areas I wasn't allowed in. I was able to get within physical reach of any player.
One of the very few action shots I managed to get. I thought it looked fun for the guy on the ground...
Ryan, the ATL quatrerback was the other guy we were covering.
Geno thoughtfully proved that I was at the game.
Ryan looks so serious! Chill out, man.
I was lucky enough to photograph this interception. Of all the photographers who could be in the background of my shot... It's Geno on the opposite end-zone. Hahah
This guy jumped over me, literally, after scoring a touchdown. I wouldn't be surprised if you see me duck in a highlight reel. I got this fun shot of him as he dove into the crowd. Fortunately, I had the wits to grab my other camera with my short 70-200 lens on it so I could get the shot--he was only about 15 feet away. I love the Green Bay fans!
